Scott County Clerk Records

The public land records system includes deeds, mortgages, recorded wills, marriage licenses, notary bonds, and related instruments. These records differ from court case files. Request Scott County Certified Copies
Certified copies from the County Clerk are used when a recorded document must be shown as an official copy. Examples include a certified deed, a certified recorded will, or a certified marriage copy. For certified marriage copies, the Scott County Clerk copy request page states that copies are for marriage licenses issued by and recorded in Scott County. If the record is a court order or divorce decree, request it from the Circuit Court Clerk instead.

Scott County Clerk Fees

Marriage and Recorded Wills
The County Clerk is the local office for Scott County marriage licenses. Marriage licenses are by appointment only, and the marriage license fee is $60. Card transactions carry a 2.75% vendor processing fee. The clerk's appointment request process says an application may be submitted up to 45 days before the ceremony, but an appointment will not be scheduled sooner than 30 days before the ceremony date. Under Kentucky law, a marriage license is valid for 30 days including the issue date.
Recorded wills are also part of the County Clerk record set when they have been recorded as public land records. Court probate case files still go through District Court probate jurisdiction and the Circuit Court Clerk. That means an estate search may require both offices: the court clerk for probate orders and the County Clerk for a recorded will image or certified recorded copy.
